Being Who You Are
Reading the Hindu sacred text, Bhagavad Gita, for the first time in 1974 was like waking up from an amnesic sleep. I was an engineering student in college, and skipped my Electrical Engineering class to start this book. From the first word, first page, first chapter, it made sense. It felt right, it felt natural, it was easy, it sounded familiar. The Hindus believe in reincarnation---that one 'wakes up' at some point in their current incarnation to 'remember' who they were, or at least, in my case, to remember that they are imminently familiar with the principles of Yoga, the spiritual path of India. I woke up to wisdom I had known before, loved before, lived before. I was ready to take up my previous path again, and it was like the pleasure of walking an old childhood forest path again. Decades later, I continue to walk this path, which is so natural to me. Whoever we are, whatever path calls to us, life is constantly and sweetly calling us to be who we are.
